Pevil looked at the tiny bundle of fur in her arms. She couldn't explain why but she felt there was something special about this rat. He'd instantly started to follow her and she got the impression he wanted something more; he wanted to be A Big Deal. Known throughout the lands, king of all rats! Sighing at the cost of such things, she reached into her backpack and pulled out a magical parchment which she rubbed against the rat's fur. Somehow the parchment seemed to get a little duller and she knew it had worked; this rat would never suffer permanent death. They would adventure together for the rest of their days.
(OOC - I've been challenged to train up a rat and I'm considering using a bonding deed on him instead of waiting the week because I'll forget about the challenge by then and I have a spare deed. It seems ridiculous for a rat though so I'm now wondering if there's any way of making it clear this is no ordinary rat. Perhaps Surveyor John could get drunk and drop a bit of gold paint on him whilst he's doing some decorating somewhere? Or just confirmation as to what the gold mount dye works on at the gold stone; is it only mounts or would it work on a little rat too? Perhaps my rat can earn me the 5 mil it would cost!)
