Lore Dreams: the Fall of Luna

Luna has a new mysterious figure roaming the Rune Library. Mumbling of dreams and madness under their breath whilst paging through books, and tome after tome of magic, a wandering fool or is this dream a reality?

It has been said they have visited the adventurers in their travels, but yet they seem to always appear deep in thought at the library, is that but a dream? Or could this be a waking nightmare...

How do they hold onto such a weight around their neck... a weight perhaps otherworldly. Or perhaps the weight of knowledge.

The ground has cracked as if an energy around the Rune Library folded within itself. A mysterious tree dripping with magical energy float above an endless pit. The surrounding fauna infected with a blight.

Monsters and wraiths are seen inside the walls of Luna, how have they broken through the barricades? Did they come from below?

The citizens of Luna are on edge, rightfully so. To arms against Duma or heed the warning of a maddened ghost like figure.... Maybe it is all a dream as Duma says, and we just need to go back to sleep, dreaming to wake.

Even the town cryer seems to not be sure of their own reality anymore...

Duma has been seen in Doom, but while adventurer's ignored their words, and focused on their winnings...

Luna's ground began to shake. Portals have opened up and more vile creatures have begun to flood the inner walls. The shopkeepers have boarded up their shops only the Mayor and Town Cryer remain to call to arms heroes!

The portals seem to be directly linked to the Rune Library as it has taken quite a turn with the ground seemingly becoming corrupted and seeping with evil magical energies.

As adventurer's returned from Doom, the noticed the rune libraries gruesome appearance.

Duma was there but with a snap, it was TWO... they Spoke but seemingly split: "The dream is pulling me again... I can only dream for so long before I too am asleep."

The apparition of Duma disappeared in a dark portal, a one way dimension. and Deamons followed out perhaps chasing the dreams of those who were in Doom. The portal, may have been opened by Duma, yet, it was not Duma as there were two...

The adventurer's fought hard and were able to fight the wave of Deamons.

Then Duma re-appeared and spoke "Be gone dreams. Nightmares are meant to be slept" as they seemed to close the portal and returned to one form...

Luna is still under siege, Duma back to their ramblings and reading through the tomes of the library!

Duma spoke, letting the adventurer's ask three questions. But the adventurer's made jokes, and laughed at the mumbling mad spirit. The Rune library now has cracked even more and portals appear on the pentagrams inside the library itself!

Monster after monster flew from the portals upon the adventurers. Until it was quiet, but the town still fighting back the other cracks forming!

Today, Duma appeared to adventures. Their message and tone had changed.

"I dreamt a nightmare. I never dream.
Heed my warning adventurers...The Nightmares are becoming stronger.
The power is too great.
You must wake up!
YOU MUST WAKE UP!!!!"

As if they became lucid with fear?

The library itself now has a new crack!

New monsters flow into the streets! The blight is spreading! Duma still rambling in the library, more bothered than usual, perhaps because there are no heroes, only rats.

Giant rats do seem to have appeared, as if manifested from a dream in Luna amongst so many other monstrosities from all over the worlds vilest places.

But what is this? A clue? What does it mean?

There was little time to decipher it as using magic in this area specifically gate and recall called an army upon the adventurers, Duma showing up briefly to... help? It is still unclear!

It seems that since the adventurer's while making headway on figuring out the "ramblings" of Duma, Luna has felt it's first major crack in the rift. It is a hole so large, it swallowed over 6 houses!

The rune Library seems to be becoming even more corrupted as well:

This has mobilized the Sosarian guards to closed the gates to Luna for only the most brave adventurer's!

The ensuing invasion of monsters from all over the lands has many confused, but could there be a reason why so many different monsters are invading one location?

Does only Duma know!?

We need your help! Head to Luna to stop these invasions! Can you stop them from doing more damage to the grand city of Luna?

After the first wave of invaders from all over the land poured into Luna some adventurers, more than others, fought tooth and nail to keep it back. And for awhile it seemed quiet.

But it seems with the adventurer's not getting closer to figuring out the origin of the rifts in the ground of Luna, another invasion has begun! Duma warned them, but they seem to be content picking up shop and sipping ale,

while Luna burns!

So again Luna's ground has cracked more with magic flowing out as freely as their ale.

The library has almost become completely consumed, with the ground being torn apart around it, almost engulfing it. Even the library itself is becoming corrupted:

It seems Luna may be lost. But perhaps there is hope still. Time will tell...

Duma has been sighted warning inhabitants of the land again:

Another shrine of sorts has also been located with burned runes all around it in Zento! It has to be a clue? Did Duma do this as they did with the Runebooks?

After Wave after Wave of what seemed to be extreme champion spawns coming through the cracks of Luna, the citizens have banded to together to hire Surveyor John to move the coveted Rune Library before it may be too late.

The catch? Surveyor John needs time to properly move all the runebooks and library in the midst of this disaster and has boarded it up so no one can enter while he works on it:

To raise the funds Surveyor John has requested the citizens are being offered a special one time item (OOC: one per PERSON, IP, All Accounts) to help reach the goal before it is too late?

Will this be enough? Have they given up? Once the library is moved, will they just let Luna burn? What does this mean for the rest of Sosaria? Duma seems to chosen to stay during de-construction rambling about the dreams still.

The portals have dissipated, the library is almost ready to be moved, and the hoards of invasions seem to have stopped completely! As a result, many of the vendors and merchants have returned to Luna. What a turn of events following such a brutal invasion of undead stopped by the brave adventurer's of UOAlive. Is the dream over? Ummmm......okay... Meta I followed your idea. Took the rune to Umbra Nightmare. Never used the rune before so tell me, is this um, normal?

Lady Schala and I investigated this strange circle of flame. Lady Schala brilliantly place a stone (rune) in the circle. It was unmarked. Nothing happened.

Then I tried marking it in the middle of the circle and left it there. Still nothing happened.

We walked into and out of the circle with no problems. I used magic to teleport in and out. Nothng.

Then I tried to recall and lo and behold a blue archdemon appeared. We dispatched it. Then I tried recalling again. And again a new archdemon appeared. Dispatched. We did this again 2 more times with repeating success.

Then Lady Schala ingeniously create a gate inside the gate. LO AND BEHOLD...an ARMY of Blue Archdemons appeared as we ran to gain some space. In that mess, Duma appeared asking what had we done? Duma then put the demons to "sleep" but not all of them and we dispatched those he could not put to sleep..

We talked briefly to Duma telling us now we had seen the nightmare.

When I asked if the archdemons were the nightmare, he said they were but a "figment". That the nightmare is not here or there.... then he said the tomes are calling him and he vanished. Carefully, I tried recalling again into the circle. No blue demons appeared this time. I repeated it. No problem. I motioned to Lady Schala to try her gate spell again. She politely (and wisely) declined. Hence I said it should do nothing after all recalling did nothing. Thinking we had "dismantled" it, I tried a gate spell........and the army of archdemons appeared again but this time with no Duma to put them to sleep. We dispatched them after a pitched battle. And we are there now...in case others want to join...check out the rune libary, look for the taming runebook, use the rune called Umbra Nightmares ...

Ahh, the owner of that monstrosity. You know how many times I have gotten lost trying to find the rune I needed to get to the right brothel!? You sir are a stain on my love life... that aside...

I have done a full survey of your "Rune Library" *mumbles about it being a maze chastity belt to his sex life*

I am not sure if you are aware, but currently, Luna is under major siege... Yeah I know... shocking.

So here are my quotes, because this is not a quick job,

• There is some serious magical energy coming from your "library", so I need to close off the entire area for my team to get in there and start work safely. This means no one but my team will be able to access the library for the time being.
• How important are all those damn books? Update on the Rune Library de-construction:

• Duma is a pain in my ass! This mumbling buffoon keeps giving my workers hell for recalling to their favorite pubs when they are off the clock. Something about waking up... dreams being bad.. blah blah blah my men need a break!
• We have gotten some of the structure's foundation free, but each time we do, the whole damn building starts to shake. We are putting up supports to help, but it is not going to be easy. Who built this piece of shit!
• We are still waiting on payment, as this is slowing our ability to continue to hire mercenaries that are dropping like flys, causing my workers not to show up.
• Is Luna a ghost town? I haven't seen anyone trying to fight for the town. Bunch of cowards. All I hear is the moans of wraiths and despair as we work through the night. Let it burn, for all I care, but these goddamn wailing sounds are making it hard to get a nap in.

Myself, I am working to get this monstrosity of a maze moved but as we pack the runebooks it is almost as if the more books we cram into crates, the more dream wraiths appear. I am not a superstitious man, but you have a serious haunting going on here. Need to cleanse this place or something, get a damn priest, I am not paying for that!

Hoping to get the last of the foundation released by the middle of the week, if we can get enough ale to push past the PTSD that is this... well... fuck... no other way to put it, "Nightmare".

Update on the Rune Library de-construction progress:

• We have most of this shit in boxes, including runebooks. I can honestly say I have never carried such heavy weight in my life. What are these things made of? LEAD?! I swear we almost killed a pack mule with one of the boxes.
• Duma needs to shut their damn piping hole. Talk about waking nightmares, this thing doesn't sleep. And they keep trying to pull the damn runebooks from the boxes. Something muttering about "too many dreams".
• Ya'll need to be on the next episode of Hoarders..

Regardless of this crap... we are ready to lift the foundation and get the fuck out of this shit hole of a town and then possibly use a few of the recall runes we stole borrowed to get shit faced drunk. Heard the Three Stone Tavern is a good spot.

As soon as you hand over the cash, we will get 'er done. End THIS nightmare. Save your "precious rune library". Bunch of old dirty books. I much prefer my steed.

I am not going to lie, Sol, has rubbed me the wrong way since day one, between his confusing maze nightmare of a rune library, to the constant pressure of evil in Luna. This project has been one of the most challenging de-constructions I have ever had to force my workers to do!

Plus between them complaining of no sleep due to the wailing of monsters throughout all hours of the day and night, I tried to find at least one or two runes to good brothels for them to ease the pressure, of course on THEIR DIME and TIME... But I couldn't even find that in this shit hole.

I might say my reaction was justified, but I also want to be done with this.. then again, my reaction was justified... how does Duma say it? "Nightmare?" I dunno what the hell Duma says they just won't get out of the damn way while we pack these boxes. I'm about to pack them in a box!

From what I see and seem to understand of your reasoning for the moves, I would say getting away from magic is probably a good idea? But then again, if it were up to me, I would hire an exorcist. But from your choices, The small location in the Star Field seems to be the smartest, cut off from the rest of the area and people, even though, fuck em...

Location 2 is just asking to fall into the ocean, these books are heavy, this structure is cracking at the seams, nope, no way to make it stable. Blame Sol for shoddy craftsmanship. Shoulda hired me to build it in the first place, maybe would have avoided all of this shit!

The dungeon, dunno who suggested that crap... seriously? From one monster infested place to another.. yeah worst idea ever in the history of ideas... and I have had some horrible ideas before.

As for how you will get to either of these locations is completely different, we will need to setup either magical bridges or portals. I can throw that in as a bonus if you find me a good long pair of legs to ease the pressure of this entire move, I am stressed and need a good... release.

Apologies on my late response, but you know how these landlubbers can be. One minute they know what they want and the next the don't. Sometimes I miss my old crew... wasn't nothing a barrel of grog or belaying pin couldn't solve! But alas those are not viable options with this lot.

After much discussion they have settled on the Star Isle location, thanks largely on your expert assessment, as the new home for the library. They would like me to ask for assurance that there will be a bridge that will connect the isle to the mainland as well as one of those fancy magical moongate things so that there is easy access for all and included, of course, in the proposal you so generously offered a few days ago. To be honest if I can't reach it by water I don't imagine I will be spending much time there. Of course, unless some tinker-type invents a ship that will navigate the stars... now that is something I could hoist my colors for.

I believe you have received the gold you have requested and I am ready to smuggle the 21 bottles we discussed to you at the location of your choosing. As for the evening of entertainment, I believe a victim errr... umm... I mean volunteer has been selected and I will gladly offer up my quarters for the evening, you need only name the date.
