Stealing
Stealing in Ultima Online
Stealing in Ultima Online involves acquiring items from crates, dungeon chests, monsters, or special encounters like Exodus Zealots. Players should note that aiding thieves can brand them as 'criminals'.
Methods
Stealing requires both hands empty and can be targeted or random:
- Targeted: Used on crates, chests, or artifacts by selecting the item directly.
- Random: Used on monsters or Exodus Zealots, targeting the creature itself for a chance to acquire items.
Hazards
Stealing reveals your presence, making stealthy approaches essential. A failed attempt may lead to criminal status in justice regions, preventing recall or resurrection until the status expires.
Dungeon Artifacts
Rare artifacts spawn in dungeons and require Grand Master stealing skill to acquire. Persistence may be necessary due to the skill's difficulty.
Difficulty & Success Formulas
Success in stealing depends on skill level and item weight. Witnesses increase detection chances, affecting success rates and criminal status.
Training
Practice stealing with increasing weights to improve skill. Use items like bottles or gold on pack animals in guarded areas or specific locations like Buccaneer's Den for training.
