Stealth in Ultima Online
Stealth in Ultima Online allows characters to move silently while remaining invisible, enhancing their ability to maneuver undetected. The effectiveness of Stealth depends on your skill level and the type of armor worn.
Usage
To use Stealth:
- Ensure your character is hidden.
- Activate the Stealth skill.
- If successful, a message will confirm "You begin to move silently."
- You can take walking steps (not running). At 25.0 Stealth or higher, the skill activates automatically when walking.
- Higher Stealth levels allow more steps before another skill check is needed.
Skill Progression
- Stealth Skill: Determines the number of safe steps you can take before a skill check.
- 10: 2 steps
- 20: 4 steps
- 30: 6 steps
- 40: 8 steps
- 50: 10 steps
- 60: 12 steps
- 70: 14 steps
- 80: 16 steps
- 90: 18 steps
- 100: 20 steps
- 110: 22 steps
- 120: 24 steps
Training
- Gaining Skill: Stealth skill increases by successfully using Stealth. Training involves wearing lighter armor to maintain effectiveness:
- 0-30: Purchase training from a Thief Guildmaster.
- 30-65: Wear leather armor (add pieces gradually).
- 65-95: Transition to studded leather (add pieces gradually).
- 95-120: Use ringmail armor and a close helmet for advanced training.
Considerations
- Stealth becomes more challenging with heavier armor.
- Detection by others is possible with Detect Hidden skills or spells like 'Reveal'.
- Stealth can be maintained while moving, but running reduces its effectiveness and reveals your presence sooner.
Conclusion
Mastering Stealth allows characters to operate covertly, providing strategic advantages in various situations across Britannia.
