Independent RNG for Legendary Creatures with new Phasing Technology

We are introducing a new mechanic to Legendary taming! Each player at spawn points now has their own unique RNG chance to encounter a legendary creature. This personalized RNG is yours alone—no other player influences your chance. Whether you spend just a few minutes or several hours at a spawn point, your RNG remains unaffected by the presence or absence of other players and is based on the RNG of the Legendary spawn itself. This maintains the sanctity of a legendary creature's difficulty while preventing overthinking or the need to get too caught up in competition with other players.

When a Legendary creature spawns, it will be utilize a new phasing technology we have created for that one player, visible only to them, but still in the open world. This personal spawn ensures you won't have to worry about others stealing your legendary creature, killing it, or competing for it—you won't need to roll for it, claim an area, or coordinate with other players. Your potential legendary tame is yours alone. Keep in mind that you cannot simply hide and expect to benefit from others' efforts—the RNG is entirely your own, based on your active participation in these spawn areas around UOAlive.

Once the legendary creature spawns, you have the opportunity to tame it within the hour. If you don’t succeed, the creature becomes visible and un-phased for others to try their luck. This legendary spawning does not affect the chance of anyone else’s chance in the area. Like Harmony of Heroes with Instanced Loot, this is a unique and creative solution to keep Legendary tames, well Legendary—all while respecting your time and efforts during your quest to tame Legendary creatures!

Key Points:
  • Personalized RNG: Each player at spawn points has their own unique RNG chance to encounter a legendary creature. This RNG is yours alone and unaffected by others' presence. If your Legendary spawns it will not affect any other players spawn of a legendary. I.E. multiple legendaries can spawn at once depending on each individual's RNG.
  • Independent of Other Players: Your RNG remains consistent regardless of how long you stay at a spawn point or whether other players are nearby or if in a party.
  • Maintains Challenge: The system upholds the difficulty of legendary creatures while eliminating overthinking or the need for competitive interactions with other players.
  • Exclusive Phased Spawns: When a legendary creature spawns, it is phased for you alone and visible only to you.
  • Visual Cue: If a legendary spawns for you, you will get a message above your head that a legendary creature has spawned nearby.
  • No Player Competition: You won't have to worry about others stealing, killing, or competing for your legendary creature. There is no need to roll, claim an area, or coordinate with others.
  • Participation is Key: Your RNG chance depends on your active participation at spawn points.
  • Opportunity to Tame: Once a legendary creature spawns, you have one hour to attempt taming it. If unsuccessful, the creature becomes visible to others to try their luck. It should NOT take an hour. But there should be a sense of urgency.
  • Your Legendaries Safety: This creature cannot be killed by the surrounding mobs, but you can still die to the dangers around you. This allows you to have a sense of danger to get your tame, but keep the tame itself safe from the world around it.
    • This also means you can get help from guild members and the like to keep you alive or clear spawn, they cannot hurt your legendary, but they can also not HELP your legendary. Be mindful of its health.
    • No party members or guild members can see your Legendary.
  • Respect for Your Time and Efforts: This feature keeps legendary tames truly legendary while honoring your quest to tame these exceptional creatures.
  • Skill Check: If you do not have 120 animal taming and 120 lore, you will not trigger a legendary spawn. (this can be with jewels or real skill)
  • Wild Legendaries: If you spot a legendary creature in the world, it means one of two things: either your legendary has spawned and is ready for you, or someone else abandoned their attempt to tame it and it became visible to everyone after an hour. You can choose to tame, kill, or lead it around as you please. These are now considered open world spawns. Please be courteous and offer assistance to anyone who may still be struggling with taming it after an hour.

This new system has provided us with additional backend tools that will benefit future events and creative projects for the Event Management Team. The possibilities honestly are endless for some amazing phasing technology into Ultima Online. Very similar to what you have seen in modern games like World of Warcraft and Guild Wars 2. So lemons to lemonade!

We have also adjusted the stop gap server rules regarding these tames.

Encounters(as we made some significant changes all encounter data will be reset so you have accurate stats going foward):
  • Treasure encounters now properly Spawn in a Sequence as intended
  • Fleeing from an encounter will now properly de - spawn based on location not time
  • Added more audio and visual clues for specific aspects of encounters
  • Fixed an audio cue overlapping when a chest was unlocked and encounter ended
  • improved accuracy of encounter progress gump
  • Fix Despise Tram encounters spawning (not intended)
  • reduced encounter escape range (easier to flee)
  • added easier encounters for New Player Island
  • prevent encounters from spawning while digging for treasure or riding in a boat (until we have watery encounters)
  • Added New Haven Mines and New Player Dungeon to a no spawn Dungeon Region for Encounters
  • toned down leather wolves involved in encounters
  • Add: Sound effects for Encounter Start and Encounter End
  • Increased CPU performance for all encounters
Misc:
  • Added 12 new colors to the Hue Vendor in Magincia

  • Fix Vendor Search not showing next page on certain items.
  • Pet Branding Tool on the Magincia Stones is now 125 from 600 Sovs.

If you are in a party with someone will they see if a Legendary spawns for you, and vise versa?
 
We got a little testing done. There is a warning on top of your head when a legendary spawns. Others cannot see the pet but they can see where it is with tracking. Area peacemaking also works somewhat 'through the veil.' Other people can still block the pet with their bodies. We did not test if aoe damage would go through, but patch notes say it will not. It only phases the legendary. Other enemies around can still be seen by others (and you probably need help with them)

Yup :) all sounds about right to us! (except the area peace, we will be fixing that) Glad you got to see it in action so soon.
